Rhed, now known as Rysan's Rhedyn As Requested, made her official AKC debut in the 6-9 Puppy Bitch class January 11, 2014 at the American Spaniel Club show in Knoxville TN. She was one of 5 puppies in the class and took First Place! She was happy and animated during her time in the ring, so we are very pleased with her training and her progress to become a show dog. From September to December Rhed appeared in 2 AKC puppy matches and 5 AKC Puppy Group shows, plus she attended classes at PetSmart to further her manners and socialization. She's a happy girl and a lot of fun to show. Watch for us in the Northeast this spring.
We spent Sept 28/29 2013 in NYC at the AKC's Meet the Breeds event, held at the Javits Center. We brought Tigg, Rhed, Remy and Kian. Our friend Wendy Jordan brought Mamie, and Doug and Peggy Lehnen brought their girls Carys and Drue. It was a lot of fun meeting the public and socializing the dogs, especially the puppies. They acted like people magnets, bringing people over to the booth to pet them, even if after the puppies fell sound asleep on the table. We provided lots of information about the breed, advised folks to check out the WSSCA web site, and gave kids the chance to create their own WSS artwork by coloring in an outline of a dog. It was a great opportunity for the puppies to learn skills they will need, like how to use a sawdust covered ex-pen and how to walk on a leash through a crowd. We're looking for volunteers for next year, so let us know if you'd like to attend.
Tigg delivered her puppies on 6-28-13. 3 boys and 3 girls were born, but we lost one boy a few days later. The remaining five puppies are doing very well. Ky-Bryn's As Requested for Rysan completes her AKC Championship of Record at the Monmouth County KC show on May 26, 2012. Always shown owner-handled, Tigg started her show career in November of 2011 and was shown sparingly in shows from MA to MD. The highpoint of her show career was winning back to back majors at the New England Sporting Dog Association WSSCA Supported Entry in MA in March, 2012. We appreciate Peggy Ruble's help in jump-starting our breeding program by sending us Tigg. It's been a pleasure to show her and we look forward to many more wins.
